Shakespeare's character, Juliet Capulet, continues to captivate us four hundred years later. To this day, thousands of tourists from all over the world visit a crumbling balcony in Verona, Italy to share their deepest feelings in the form of letters to Juliet. This phenomenon of human connection and emotion fascinated British post-punk icon Elvis Costello, resulting in a studio album with the Brodsky Quartet in 1993. The genre-bending collaboration produced a unique song sequence for string quartet and voice that carries us on an intimate journey of hope, loss, and longing - all seen through the lens of love.
